Opto-Electronics
Opto-electronics is a rapidly developing field, driven mainly by
the growth of the Internet. Constant product innovations are being
introduced as the technology advances, leading to increased bandwidth,
all-optical switching, and lower costs.
This leading-edge technology means, however, that the production
processes are immature and comprehensive testing is necessary to
ensure that stable and reliable components are delivered to the
end customers.
Environmental test, Life Test, and Burn-in techniques are used
extensively to prove reliability at both the Development and Manufacturing
stages. The precise alignment demanded by opto-electronic devices
introduces new sources of parameter drift compared to other components,
and this responds well to thermal cycling methods.
